Expression of Interest
Exciting employment opportunities are coming up for motivated equine veterinarians and nurses on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
The Project
The directors of Sunshine Coast Equine Hospital, Dr Tias Muurlink and Daniel Chapman have a vision to create a unique and high standard Equine Hospital. The concept was developed to provide a different option for state-of-the-art comprehensive hospital-based care for horses in the region.
Our focus will be to provide the best standard of care possible. We will do this by completing the Equine Hospital currently under construction and staffing it with a team who shares our values of providing horses and their owners ethical care tailored to their needs.
The first stage of hospital construction is scheduled to be complete in the first quarter of 2025. This stage will offer full medical and surgical specialist level care, as well as a range of other services including lameness assessment and treatment, poor performance evaluations, some reproduction services, dentistry and other general practice type care. The concept is to provide hospital-based care only. Further services including advanced imaging will be added in subsequent stages of the project.
The Team
The most critical contributor to the success of a project of this nature is the quality and cohesion of the team. We value each team member as being vital to the overall success of the project.
We are looking to recruit an experienced, probably specialist qualified veterinarian to lead the clinical team reporting directly to the directors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the hospital and setting the tone and standard of the clinical care in conjunction with the clinical director.
As well as this position we will be recruiting equine surgeons, an equine medicine or an anaesthesia specialist, non-specialist veterinarians experienced in hospital-based care or a keen desire to develop skills in this area, and some recent graduates or interns with a strong interest in developing advanced level skills in a multidisciplinary setting.
Equally critical to having the right veterinary team, we will be recruiting a nursing and support team. We will be seeking team players who wish to be an integral part of our hospital. We will be recruiting both experienced qualified nurses and those wishing to develop skills in this area.
Job descriptions and further details will be advertised at a later date, however, if you feel you can see yourself working in our team you are encouraged to register your interest and we will keep you updated of developments.
