A purpose-built hospital offering 24/7 support for your horse’s health, health, safety and performance

Vision for SCEH

Sunshine Coast Equine Hospital was established to provide horses on the Sunshine Coast with access to advanced medical and surgical care, closer to home.

Our approach is built on teamwork — within our hospital and alongside the wider veterinary community.

Our veterinarians work collaboratively across disciplines to deliver coordinated care, while supporting referring veterinarians with cases requiring advanced diagnostics, hospitalisation, and specialist input.

Our vision is to continue building a centre of excellence on the Sunshine Coast, delivering high-quality clinical care while contributing to research and education.

We service the Sunshine Coast region and further afield as a hospital-based equine practice, with a team of specialist and general practice veterinarians providing comprehensive care.

Located just minutes off the Bruce Highway, our purpose-built facility ensure accessible, high-quality care for horses of all disciplines - from elite performance horses to everyday companians

Please note that we are a non-ambulatory hospital, which means all horses are brought to us for treatment rather than our team travelling to you. This ensures we can provide the highest level of care in a controlled, safe, and fully equipped environment - for both your horse and our staff.

  • Horses at the hospital will be accommodated according to their needs – with day yards for short stays during consultations, stables for longer stays, dedicated ICU stalls for critical cases and isolation stalls for those requiring separation.

  • Unlike many equine veterinary clinics, SCEH is a non-ambulatory specialist hospital. This means all horses will come to us, where they have immediate access to the full range of facilities, advanced equipment, and diagnostic tools needed for their care. Our patients benefit from the support of a dedicated team of veterinary professionals working together to provide safe, expert treatment in a calm and purpose-built environment.

  • We understand that Hendra vaccination is an important and sometimes complex topic for horse owners. Please look at our Hendra policy statement here. Our approach is guided by best practice and designed to provide safe, high-quality care for every patient.

  • At Sunshine Coast Equine Hospital, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care for every patient, with treatment plans tailored to each individual horse and client.

To allow us to continue delivering this level of service, payment is required at the time of consultation, treatment, and/or discharge. For patients requiring hospitalisation, a deposit will be requested at the time of admission.

We understand that veterinary care can sometimes be unexpected, and our team will always communicate clearly with you regarding recommended treatments, options, and associated costs. Where possible, we will work with you to plan care in a way that is both appropriate for your horse and manageable for your circumstances.

We accept payment via EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard, as well as bank transfer.

For added flexibility, we also offer third-party payment providers: VetPay – https://vetpay.com.au/ ZipPay – https://zip.co/au

Please note that SCEH is unable to offer in-house payment plans.

Our goal is to work collaboratively with you, ensuring transparency and open communication so you can make informed decisions about your horse’s care at every stage.
