Construction Update -Building Momentum

The journey of building the Sunshine Coast Equine Hospital has been a rollercoaster ride—one with its share of steep climbs and unexpected twists. Recently, we’ve faced some roadblocks that caused frustrating delays and left us feeling a bit despondent at times. But just like any good story, there’s a turning point, and this week has brought a fresh wave of progress and optimism!

We’re thrilled to share that contractors are back on-site, and activity is in full swing again. The surveyor team has been out marking the locations of all the hospital buildings—a critical step that breathes life into the plans we’ve had on paper for so long.

Right behind them, the plumbing team has begun digging trenches for the all-important pipework that will soon be installed beneath the concrete slabs of our buildings. This process will take sometime, but it’s exciting to see the groundwork literally being laid. In the meantime, we’re hoping the electricians will join the action soon to keep the momentum going.

Another milestone was the installation of a new transformer by the energy company, enabling us to access mains power. This significant step clears the way for future electrical work and brings us closer to a fully functional site.

Nature has also been busy working its magic. Recent spring rains, paired with some warmer days, have transformed our previously dusty construction site into a lush green pasture. Watching the grass seed sprout has been a rewarding reminder of the progress happening around us, even during challenging times.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been hard at work on essential tasks that will set the foundation for the hospital’s operations. From refining human resource and safety documents to evaluating practice management systems, we’re committed to creating a safe, efficient, and seamless environment for our team. These preparations will allow us to focus on what truly matters: delivering exceptional patient care.

Building a hospital of this scale and significance has not been without its challenges, but our commitment to bringing advanced equine veterinary care to the Sunshine Coast remains steadfast. The encouragement we’ve received from the equine community continues to fuel our determination and excitement for the future.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world to us as we work to create a space that will elevate the standard of equine veterinary care in the region and beyond.

Stay tuned for more updates—we can’t wait to share what’s next!
